To SEA:
R. Johnson (from CHI)
D. Ward (from CHI)
B. Colon (from MON)
To CHI:
D. Ortiz (from MON)
97 1st (from MON)
97 3rd (from MON)
98 2nd (from MON)
J. Vazquez (from MON)
Randy Wolf (from SEA)
to MON:
K. Brown (from SEA)
G. Swindell (from SEA)
J. Guzman (from CHI)
Mariners accept. Moving Brown was hard after the great season he just had, but I wanted a little more depth in my rotation with Clemens likely hitting free agency after this season, so getting Johnson for a shorter-term fix (and because he belongs in a Mariners uniform) and Colon for the future (and because he's Big Sexy) worked.
Thanks to both teams for a surprisingly easy three team deal and good luck to the Cubs on the rebuild!

Expos accept.
I'm always hesitant to move picks or promising youth, so it's not easy to convince myself in moving a package like this, but with the group of guys I have at bat I really needed to sort my pitching out and go "all in" the next 3-4 seasons.
Colon and Ortiz are solid prospects and could definitely be a long term parts of a team, but I'm projecting a rebuild in early 2000s and that means their peak will collide with the rebuild so I've decided to trade them now while the team is ready to compete.
Good luck to Cubs and Mariners and thanks to Mariners for sorting this trade out.
