I'll waive everyone on my big league roster and pull back anyone claimed.
Open to any trades if someone wants to add something, got some great players but for some reason I'm under .500 so time to blow it up and try again.

I claim every single one of your players.

Braves, since the mariners claimed everyone this is a good chance for you to dump some unwanted salary.

No, I only claimed them on the premise that he would "pull back anyone claimed"
I was obviously doing it tongue-in-cheek because this type of thing just eliminates the notion of waiver trades in general...if we want to allow the above, let's just get rid of the trade deadline...at least commish only selected several players...

But it was also on the premise that it would lead to negotiations.
I don't see a problem in trying to follow baseball rules. This is how its been since the beginning of the league.

If your goal is more negotiations, then why don't we just eliminate the trade deadline, which would ostensibly do the same, but evenly for each team rather than only for those who post the above? I'm not advocating for getting rid of the trade deadline - though I would go along with it if that's what the league as a whole wanted - but the above is a farce and does not emulate MLB. And even if you could argue that it did, it's a bad idea for us to implement such a system in a 6.5 league where participation is a factor.

you don't like the system so you ruin it for others trying to use it. propose a change if you don't like the rules. its not meant to be super active, but has resulted in trades in the past...just like MLB.

On the contrary, I believe it is the above post that is outside the system. In the history of this iteration of this league, nobody has ever said "I'll waive everyone on my big league roster and pull back anyone claimed" until now...you listed 3 people last time you tried to do it, which may have been the most until Josh's recent post.
The above is not operating within the system/rules in place in good faith (as Josh did), but rather abusing it. And I'm not taking a shot at the Braves, as Cameron previously requested clearer rules: ["I'd probably vote to just have a hard deadline of July 31st like the new rule in real life... the waiver thing is too complicated. But I'm fine if people like it and want to keep it we probably just need clear guidelines."]...which we've seemingly never received. So, I guess I'm hoping we can finally get those now that someone has forced the issue by pushing the envelope past what is realistic.
And I did propose a solution to the problem you think exists (that is more fair for everyone) and is in line with what the owner you're defending previously stated he preferred. But, I don't actually think a problem exists. I think the solution is that you work out a trade with someone and then if it's after August, you attempt to get them through waivers. But preemptively sending your whole team prior to talking to anybody isn't realistic at all.

I complained when this exact kind of post happened last season and everyone said it was no big deal... that's why I did it...
No worries tho, I don't have to waive anyone if its an issue for the Ms lol.

Oh, I stand corrected...looks like the Cardinals did this previously...
I still think it creates an obligation to post something unnecessary and results in a potential situation where if nobody logs on within 48 hours of one team's post all those players can now be traded (but if someone happens to log on when another team tries to pass their team through waivers and claims them, they don't get the same opportunity). Seems more fair to just allow August trades for everyone, especially if the goal is to encourage trades.
But this has obviously gotten way out of hand over such a small issue that probably won't even come to pass....so let's just move on.

Here's the thing: we all have real lives that sometimes prevent us from being able to log on and check VaV boards for sometimes days at a time. We aren't "real" MLB teams where this is our job to be on top of things the moment another team claims someone in August.
Our board has a time deadline --- it also has rules that say IF YOU CLAIM A PLAYER, you could potentially be on the hook for them if the original team wants them gone.
I believe I posted in my post last year that IF there was then not a subsequent post of a TRADE involving a claimed player, it should be assumed I have removed the player from waivers. Again, there's no perfect way to do this, but to just claim everyone a team posts with the intention of stopping any potential trades is NOT in the spirit of the rule.
The original posting team has every right to dump any high-salaried player to any claiming team.

Not if he predicates his post on removing anybody claimed...which, in my opinion is "NOT in the spirit of the rule." But again, I really don't care this much and was mostly just responding to SD. He can trade anybody he wants, let's just move on, please.
