We would either add two teams to NL or AL and I really don't mind if a current solid GM takes over an expansion team as well. Sounded like PhilliesGM and MarinersGM, threw in their names if we don't immediately find some new GMs to join. I still think I'm going to move the Reds to the Florida Marlins starting next season. They were a childhood favorite in between my Bonds-Bonilla Pirates and LaRussa-Pujols Cardinals fanhoods.

At the pace we get new owners here, I would be hesitant to have a current owner manage a new team. That may be indefinite. I would say to hold off expanding until we have 2 owners to fill teams.

Im for expansion. Try to get 2 new owners in a sensible amount of time. If we need to fill the expansion teams with current owners, so be it. I came from a league where owners had multiple teams and it worked well. We would need to come up with owner restrictions i.e. cant trade with your other team, except maybe a three way trade etc.

i'm definitely not a fan of people running multiple teams long term. you don't have to directly trade with one another to work in collusion.

In response to Cubs concern: we'd have two new teams run by active owners (especially if we selected active owners to run a second team rather than finding new owners whose activity levels we haven't yet vetted), resulting in an overall increase in league activity/trading.
Padres: I agree with Tigers that it can easily be done and can work well without collusion. The goal wouldn't be to have 2 team owners as a long-term solution, but if it did work out that way in the interim, I'm confident we wouldn't have issues. I'm speaking from experience as I was in the those leagues with Detroit where some owners had two teams (and was one of the owners who ran two), and it worked out very well without any impropriety or hints of collusion. I was initially the Royals, who were perennial playoff contenders and then when we expanded in '92, also took over the Marlins in the NL and brought them to the playoffs after only a couple seasons. The expansion draft was fun and brought a lot more activity to the league, and then there were additional teams being run by active owners, leading to an increase in trading and free agency activity.
Those are my two cents, but I'll go with the will of the majority. If it would prefer we stick with the teams we currently have and not expand, that's fine.

As much as I’d like to see the league expand I just don’t think it’s a good idea unless we have 2 solid new GM’s ready to go. It’s always so challenging to get gm’s for a version of the game that’s 15 yrs old anyway.
Also, while I appreciate fellow GM’s willing to step up and take on leading an expansion team until a new GM can be found, I’m not really a fan of GM’s managing multiple teams unless it’s an emergency interim basis.
Basically not sure if it’s wise to expand when we are usually challenged to keep committed GM’s at our current level.

We made the mistake of expanding in VaV hoops when we weren't technically full and the GM that took the expansion was a waste of time. Let's not repeat history. I am only for it if we truly have two committed new GMs.

I’d say yes under the condition we get dedicated people here to fill them. ThunderGM told me he’s interested and he seems genuine about it, but even if that works out I don’t think we have another waiting right now?

The fact that this poll has been up for over 24 hours with only seven out of eighteen GMs responding... (eight counting the commish) as well as the bottom of the forums page showing only nine GMs logging on in the last 24 hours...
should be strongly considered in any voting.

Only if you don't like owners having more than one team. Keep in mind that the overall activity level of the league (including the % of teams that would routinely respond to a poll like this in a timely fashion) would go up if we had two active owners handle the expansion teams. But, again, if you feel like A's and Padres do about owners with two teams, you won't be in favor of expansion unless we find two new owners. And I thought we had some people interested in getting on the waiting list a couple months ago...are they all current owners?

What you guys decide is ok by me. I can take another team and don't mind trading restrictions one bit. An active team is an active team. I had no complaints when the 'Dodgers' have had multiple teams. It is just like a Commish taking over a in-active team. Plus... I would like the Commish to get his Fish. After all, it is his league. Still ok with any decision.

All makes sense.. we can table this for the future if and when we may have some outside interest.
Mine will simply be a name switch for next year.

I ran an existing team in VaV hoops just resign people for an open team, nothing else. I didn't take a new team just so we could expand. Not the same, Philly.
Working on two days in and still not even half the league has voted..

Well, I thought you did more than that but I wouldn't have minded if you did. Two teams is probably way too much for you anyway. Just kidding grumplestilskin.
