I would like to make a suggestion to go into effect for the next few seasons:
Since nobody will be able to amass 2500 career AB's until at least another couple of seasons, I suggest we waive the AB's requirement for the career .300 BA points, but instead of getting the full 3 points, we give people under 2500 career AB's either 1.5 points or 2 points for reaching a career .300 BA.
Obviously, this would only be in place until after the 1989 season, which would give anybody reaching FA 5 seasons to reach the 2500 AB's. After that, it would revert back to normal.
Anybody who actually does have 2500 AB's and a .300 BA in the meantime would be eligible for the full 3 points.

I'd be on board for a 2 point addition since hitting over .300 for a 3-year span would seem to warrant some additional comp

I suppose there should probably be something similar in regards to the pitchers, as well.
