After hitting 35 homeruns in just 70 games in AAA and 117 total his minor league career, Reggie Jackson stepped into the batter's box for his first major league game facing one of the league's most dominant pitchers in history, Mark Buehrle. With the bases loaded in his first AB, the stage was set for magic! Some may have shied away from the moment, Reggie shined. Jackson sent Buehrle's offering 453 feet into the stands for a GRAND SLAM for his first big league hit and homerun! Before the night was over, Jackson added another RBI single to make his statline read 2-5, 1 GS and 5 RBI!
Although his AVG dipped to .208 for his first week in the bigs, Nationals fans are ecstatic to see their farm system in action. Awaiting Jackson in the minors are stars in wait like Josh Gibson, Grant "Home Run" Johnson, James "Cool Papa" Bell, not to mention recently drafted Nolan Ryan, Luis Tiant and Oscar Charleston.
For the Nats, the future is once again very BRIGHT!
